Bhubaneswar: In view of steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, Odisha government Sunday announced a 14-day lockdown across the state starting May 5 morning.
The lockdown will continue till May 19 morning, state Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department said.
During the imposed lockdown, people will be allowed to walk down a maximum distance of 500 metres to buy grocery and other supplies between 6.00am to 12noon.

The earlier imposed complete weekend shutdown on Saturdays and Sundays will remain in force as before, the department said in a press notification.
Notably, the authorised persons providing essential services and personnel on election duty will be allowed to move out during the lockdown period. Besides, COVID testing and vaccination will continue from time to time. Movement of goods and goods carriers will not be affected by the lockdown, the department explained.
Public transport and taxis, however, will remain suspended along with other commercial activities.
