Berhampur: In a tragic incident that took place Thursday three persons died due to suffocation inside a septic tank at Bikrampur village under Gopalpur police limits in Ganjam.
Sources informed that a mason named Sadananda Reddy went to the house of Siddheswar Reddy of Bikrampur village to dismantle a false ceiling of the septic tank, which was casted a few days ago. Soon after entering the tank, Sadananda lost his consciousness. Seeing Sadananda’s condition, Siddheswar called two of his neighbourers Krishna Reddy and Tarinia Reddy and sought their assistance to rescue the trapped mason.

The two neighbours entered the septic tank, but they also lost consciousness. Other villagers rescued the three in critical condition and rushed them to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. However, the doctors declared the three as dead on arrival, a police official said.
On being informed by locals, the Gopalpur police reached the health facility and sent the bodies for post-mortem. A case has been lodged regarding the unnatural deaths.
