Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has initiated process for setting up of as many as 34 smart parks in the Silver City here.
The civic authorities have decided to set up 15 smart parks in CDA area of the city while construction work of four such parks has already been started. A target has been set to finish the construction work for four parks by the end of this year, said CMC Deputy Commissioner Ajay Mohanty.
“We are now preparing blueprints for the construction of remaining 11 parks in CDA area. This apart, steps have been taken to identify suitable places for 19 smart parks in other localities of the city,” Mohanty added.
All the smart parks would have lighting, drinking water, toilet, open gym and other modern facilities. Besides, there would be facilities for Yoga and proper seating arrangements for the visitors. Moreover, the parks would have playing equipment for children, Mohanty said.
“The Silver City does not have adequate playgrounds for children. Moreover, the locals are facing inconveniences to get suitable places for morning and evening walks. Taking into consideration all these issues, the CMC has decided to set up smart parks across the city,” Mohanty added.
CMC sources, meanwhile, claimed that the new parks will have proper arrangements to manage crowds while providing refreshment to the visitors.
“The concept of neighbourhood parks is being promoted in urban areas. The civic authorities have planned to set up small parks in all localities of the city so that the residents can access these parks easily for refreshment,” said a source in the CMC.
