Bhubaneswar: Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi, the former legislator from Gopalpur Assembly constituency in Ganjam, filed a writ petition Monday in the Supreme Court seeking registration of a criminal case against Odisha Lokayukta, the former lawmaker’s lawyer Pitambar Acharya informed.
Panigrahi alleged in his petition that the Lokayukta had submitted a forged copy of the Orissa High Court’s order in connection with a case which is sub-judice in the top court.

The former legislator appealed to the court thorough his petition to register criminal cases against Lokayukta chairperson Justice Ajit Singh and secretary Manas Ranjan Tripathy. It is pertinent to mention here, that Panigrahi had earlier filed a ‘contempt of court’ petition against the Lokayukta in the Odisha High Court August 11.
“Despite being a former Justice, the Lokayukta has not only committed contempt of court, he even went to the extent of forging the HC’s order and challenged the case in the Supreme Court. Such an unscrupulous person is unfit to occupy a quasi-judicial position of Odisha Lokayukta chairperson,” Acharya alleged. Forgery of the HC’s order by the Lokayukta amounts to a judicial impropriety of the highest order, the counsel added.
