Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 565 new Covid-19 cases, of which 63 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,25,874. The active caseload in the state now stands at 5,513.
Out of the 565 new infections, 328 were reported from quarantine centres while 237 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 545 cases of coronavirus infections Tuesday.
Odisha also reported five (05) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,192 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Wednesday morning. The state had reported seven (07) Covid-19 fatalities Tuesday.
Khurda reported highest deaths (two). It was followed by Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Puri districts (one each).
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 256 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 61 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore and Jajpur (28 each), Mayurbhanj (26), Jagatsinghpur (20), Puri (12), Sambalpur (11), Angul (eight), Bhadrak and Sundargarh (six each), Dhenkanal and Kandhamal (five each), Bolangir, Ganjam, Kendrapara, Keonjhar and Koraput (four each), Deogarh, Kalahandi and Nuapada (three each) and Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Nayagarh and Rayagada (two each).
The State Pool reported 56 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,99,00,532 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 634.
PNN
