Umerkote: A minor boy held hostage at a brick kiln in Telangana was released from detention Monday following the intervention of the brick kiln owner.
When the brick kiln owner came to know about the incident, he rescued the minor and sent him back home to Umerkote, paying the entire expenses. The matter came to fore after the family members informed the Umerkote police of the development.
Reports said that two middlemen Rajmohan Harijan of Chikili village and Bighna Bhata of Jhaliaguda village took the boy with them to Jagdalpur and sold him at the brick kiln at Telangana for Rs 3 lakh. The minor informed about his detention to his family members over phone.
Police launched a probe after the boy’s elder brother lodged a complaint, Umerkote police station IIC Naresh Pradhan said.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the two middlemen, who are said to be absconding. The police are also trying to trace whether other people are involved in the trafficking racket. Police are also trying to ascertain whether the brick kiln owner send back the boy home out of compassion or for fear of arrest.
