Bargarh: Normal life came to a standstill in Bargarh district following a six-hour Bargarh bandh Tuesday. Demanding stringent action against the culprits involved in the sensational Mamita Meher murder case, Bhulia Sangha of Barpali observed the bandh from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
During the six hours, vehicles remained off the road and markets and business establishments downed their shutters.

Essential services like ambulance, fire brigade, milk van, medicine shops were kept outside the bandh purview.
Notably, the BJP also observed a 12-hour Sambalpur bandh Tuesday, demanding removal of Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra, CBI probe into the case and immediate release of Rs 50 lakh to the deceased lady teacher’s family. A 15-member delegation of the saffron party led by led by state president Samir Mohanty also met her family at Jharni village under Turekela block in Bolangir district.
Police had arrested Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused, from a sugarcane field at Budhipadar village under Bangomunda block October 19. During interrogation, he confessed to have killed Mamita Meher, a teacher at Sunshine English Medium School in Mahaling area of Kalahandi district. She went missing October 8 and was found dead subsequently.
