Sonepur: Demanding the scalp of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged nexus with the prime accused Gobinda Sahu in teacher Mamita Meher murder case, the district unit of BJP observed 12-hour Subarnapur Bandh, starting 6.00 AM Thursday.
The saffron party also sought a CBI probe into the murder case.
According to a district level BJP spokesperson, hundreds of workers and supporters of the Opposition party staged agitations in all five blocks, two notified area councils (NACs) and a Municipality in the Subarnapur district. Earlier, 12-hour bandh was observed October 25 in Birmaharajpur subdivision of the district.
The bandh that started in the morning will continue till 6.00 PM.

“Subarnapur Bandh began at 6.00 AM and vehicular movement was not allowed. However, the emergency services like ambulance, milk, water, medicines and fire brigade were not disrupted during the bandh,” a district level leader of the party said mediapersons.
Party workers were instructed to ensure that marketplaces, roadside shops, malls and commercial establishments including government and private organisations remain close, the local leader added.
It is pertinent to mention here that, in the same line of demand, BJP observed 12-hour Nuapada Bandh Thursday. Moreover, hundreds of party workers staged a gherao at the district SP office in Boudh.
Besides, a BJP central fact-finding team led by Vanathi Srinivasan will visit Odisha Friday (October 29) and carry out a probe into the deceased lady school teacher Mamita Meher case. The team will submit its report to the party’s national president JP Nadda.
