Hinjilicut: To make Hinjilicut town clean and beautiful, Hinjilicut Municipality launched a Zero GPS (Grass, Plastic and Soil) programme, Sunday.
Joining as the chief guest, District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange launched the programme at a function held on the premises of the civic body here. Speaking on the occasion, Kulange said that Hinjilicut has become the laboratory of development and hailed the contribution of the residents in the overall development of the area and in maintaining cleanliness in the town.
The civic body also plans to enroll every household in the town with a digital door number and provide various services to them through a QR code.
Reports said that the Zero GPS programme will be implemented under Mo Swabhiman, Mo Ganjam, scheme in which the roadsides in the town will be cleared of unwanted grass and weed. Moreover, the civic body will seek the cooperation of traders in enforcing the ban on single-use plastic.
This apart, construction materials, debris, waste and unwanted soil dumped on the roads and blocking movement of people will be removed. The move aims to ensure zero presence of plastic, grass and soil in the town thereby showcasing an example for others.
Kulange sought the cooperation of the residents to make the programme a success and stressed on carrying out an awareness drive on a large scale in the area by involving the voluntary outfits, traders and the local intelligentsia. He also called upon the residents to cooperate with the sanitary workers in keeping the area clean. Later, a short film produced by the civic body on mobile app ‘Safa’ was screened on the occasion.
Residents can download this app and pay for parking ticket, fee for market stall and book community centres like Kalyan Mandap without visiting the civic body office. The residents can also post their suggestions and complaints through this mobile app.
Sarat Chandra Mohapatra, representative of Chief Minister, attended the programme as guest of honour. Sachidananda Nayak, project director of District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), and Subrat Kumar Jena, block development officer (BDO), were also present at the function.
The guests called upon the residents to cooperate in this move undertaken by the civic body and make the programme a success.
