Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha recorded 83 new Covid-19 cases, of which 22 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking tally in the state to 12,86,540. Active caseload in the state now stands at 977.
Odisha reported three (03) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking tally in the state to 9,108 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department posted Saturday morning. The state had reported two (02) Covid-19 fatalities Friday.
Sundargarh district alone reported the three (03) deaths.
Out of the total 83 new infections, 49 were reported from quarantine centres while 34 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 104 cases of coronavirus infections Friday.
Sambalpur district registered the highest number of new cases with 12 persons testing positive for the disease, followed by Sundargarh with 10 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (1), Balasore (4), Bargarh (1), Bhadrak (1), Bolangir (4), Cuttack (5), Gajapati (8), Ganjam (2), Jajpur (1), Kalahandi (1), Kandhamal (1), Kendrapara (4), Khurda (5), Koraput (3), Mayurbhanj (5), Nabarangpur (6), Nayagarh (1), Nuapada (1), Puri (1) and Subarnapur (5).
The State Pool reported only one (01) new case. This is the person who has come from outside Odisha and has tested positive.
A total of 2,98,31,243 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 117.
