Jajpur: After detection of substandard work in various road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Kendrapara-Jajpur Rural development circle, the chief engineer of PMGSY has been directed to frame draft charges against five SDOs. According to reports, seven road projects under PMGSY had been built in Kendrapara-Jajpur Rural development circle in 2021. However, the quality of the road work was compromised in violation of guidelines. A team of national quality monitor (NQM) investigated the standard of the road projects in 2021 and submitted a report.
All these roads were laid under rural development sub-divisions of Jajpur Road, Mahakalpara, Pattamundai, Aul and Marshaghai. These PMGSY roads are from L060 expressway to Benapatia; from L042 Embankment to Raghunathpur; from Palimi to Desahi; Podana to Mandia; Juna to Purusottampur; Bhusaranga to Khamanagabindha and Gunupur to Kathiapada.
However, five SDOs who are responsible for looking after proper execution of PMGSY projects have not yet submitted their action taken reports on the report of the NQM team. The engineer-in-chief of the Rural Development department has expressed concern over the negligence of these SDOs and has sent a letter to the office of the chief engineer (PMGSY) to frame draft charges against the SDOs concerned. Besides, he has also recommended submission of actiontaken report based on NQM guidelines
