Sambalpur: Youths duped in the name of providing them with jobs at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) here, have become a cause of concern for the health authorities. The fraudsters are issuing forged appointment letters for various posts in VIMSAR in lieu of huge amounts of money. Four youths have recently fallen prey to this job racket. They were provided with appointment letters for posts of attendants at VIMSAR. The appointment letters carried the signature of the Additional Secretary of the Health department and logo of the Odisha government.
In the letter it was also mentioned that the Health department has already intimated the director, superintendent and dean of VIMSAR about the appointments. The youths had allegedly coughed up large amounts to get the appointment letters. A copy of the appointment letter has gone viral on social media platforms. The matter came to light after a youth, who got such an appointment letter from the fraudsters, contacted VIMSAR authorities.
Officials said that a big job racket is operating in Burla locality and duping youths. Several local outfits said issuance of such fake appointment letters have tarnished the image of VIMSAR. They demanded an investigation into the matter so that the fraudsters are exposed. VIMSAR superintendent, Professor Lal Mohan Nayak informed that he had got news of the existence of such a racket only a few days back. “However, there has not been any formal complaint in this regard and the Health department is not aware of the development. This could be the handiwork of a racket.
Some appointments in VIMSAR had been done earlier through outsourcing, but the process has been stopped,” Nayak said. Nayak added that in the recent past, advertisements for vacancies in VIMSAR has not been published. So urged the youths to be careful and not fall into the trap of fraudsters.
