Malkangiri: A team of Gujarat police arrested Tuesday a government school teacher here in connection with the leak of the question papers for the recruitment examination to the posts of junior clerks conducted by the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board (GPSSB). The accused was identified as Saroj Malu, a teacher at the Government High School at Kartanpali in Malkangiri district. Police have already left for Surat with Malu where he will be produced in court. Officials said that the examination which was scheduled for Sunday has been canceled due to the leak.
Officials said Malu had allegedly written answers to the questions and had shared them with the job aspirants. A total of 1,181 posts for junior clerks were on offer for which 9.53 lakh candidates were to appear. The examination was to be conducted at 2,995 centres. As the questions and answers went viral on various social media platforms, the government had no option but to cancel the examination.
Gujarat police have so far arrested 15 people in this connection. They came to know from some of the accused that Malu had prepared the answers and made the answers viral. Police before departing for Surat said that investigations are still on to nab others involved in the leak of the question papers. Officials said that the gang works in a very professional manner with their network spread in various states.
The next date of the examination will be announced within the next 100 days, the development commissioner of Gujarat Panchayati raj department had earlier said, Monday.
