Nayagarh: Nayagarh Childline intervened and stopped the marriage of a 15-year-old girl in the district’s Sarankul area, Friday. According to sources, the wedding was scheduled in a temple in Sarankul, Badhi Sahi. After getting the information about the scheduled child marriage from a local, a team was dispatched to the area by Childline.
Reportedly, the bride’s wedding was stopped and Childline officials counselled the girl’s parents. The minor girl, who was enrolled in Class IX was brought before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), where her statement was taken down. Subsequently, she was handed over to CWC’s care at the Sakhi Center.
