Bhubaneswar: A passenger flight trial run between Bhubaneswar airport and Rangeilunda airstrip on Berhampur outskirts in Ganjam district will be launched March 5, a source said Saturday.
The flight from Bhubaneswar — carrying as many as nine passengers — will fly to Rangeilunda on the birth anniversary of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik Sunday.
According to the source, the aircraft will take -off from Bhubaneswar at 9:30AM and land in Rangeilunda at 10:20AM. It will return from the airstrip at 10:40AM and land in Bhubaneswar at 11:30AM. The next flight on the route is expected March 8. The aircraft will take off from Bhubaneswar at 9AM and land in Rangeilunda at 10AM. It will begin its return journey at 10:20 and land in Bhubaneswar at 11:20AM.
In the initial phase, it’s likely that some flights will be operated from Rangeilunda airstrip. The air traffic will be given more importance in the second and third phases in the upcoming days with the expansion and development of the airstrip.
Prior to the flight’s takeoff, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Usha Padhee Friday inspected the infrastructure development work of Rangeilunda airstrip.
It can be added here that the Rangeilunda airstrip is part of the Civil Aviation Ministry’s Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) and Rural Connectivity schemes.
