Bhawanipatna: Kalahandi police Tuesday arrested eight persons including a headmaster in connection with the dissemination of fake Class-X question papers at RK Shakuntala High School in Rupra area under Kesinga block of Kalahandi district, a source said Wednesday.
Police produced all the eight accused in court Wednesday.
Police seized 22 mobile phones, five laptops, one computer, one pen drive, and cash worth Rs 18,950 from the eight arrested persons.
The accused persons allegedly made photocopies of Summative Assessment-II question papers which were fake, and distributed them to candidates, the source said.
According to the source, Pranabandhu Sahu – the headmaster – was appointed as the examination controller during the Summative Assement-II examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
Notably, the state education department had filed a report with the Kalahandi SP March 14 in connection with the alleged leak of question papers. After conducting an investigation, Kalahandi police nabbed the accused.
Earlier, Kesinga police March 18 detained as many as six people. They were later released after being questioned.
Previously, the opposition parties — BJP and Congress — created a ruckus in the Assembly by targeting the BJD-led state government for the alleged question paper leak in the High School Certificate Examination-2023.
