Bargarh: A 20-year-old man allegedly beat his mother to death in Pipilipali village under Bargarh police limits of Bargarh district, a source said Sunday.
According to the source, the incident took place Saturday night. The accused son is identified as Kartik Bhui.
Police detained Bhui Sunday.
However, the motive behind the crime is still unclear, informed the source.
In another such incident, a 20-year-old man named Lugu Hembram allegedly hacked his father to death and later raped his stepmother at Champajhar village under Tamaka police limits in Jajpur district.
Police arrested Lugu March 7.
A local source said Lugu committed the crime while he was in an inebriated state.
Police suspected a family dispute over a piece of land to be the reason behind the incident.
