Bolangir: Considering the demand for a probe into the interstate fake certificate racket, the state government has entrusted the Crime Branch (CB) for further investigation. Reportedly, a five-member team of the CB headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Debabrata Chakra arrived here Saturday night and had a discussion with Bolangir SP Nitin Kushalkar in his office. The CB team formally took over the investigation into the fake certificate racket from Bolangir Police, Sunday.
Then the CB officials went to the Town police station and had a discussion with Sadar SDPO Tophan Bag, Town PS IIC Biswajeet Manbodh, and Sadar PS IIC Srikant Sahu. Then the team headed to the Reliance Education Complex situated on Bolangir–Patnagarh road. They took photographs of the coaching institute from all angles before entering inside. The team stopped all media persons present there from entering the premises.
After half an hour, the team visited the Head Post Office but returned to the police station as it was closed Sunday. The CB will take every piece of evidence related to the case into custody, said DSP Chakra and assured a thorough investigation into the matter. It is pertinent to mention that Bolangir police had busted an interstate fake certificate racket after Bolangir postal superintendent Rajendra Kumar Pattnaik lodged a complaint alleging that the educational certificates submitted by some candidates applying for jobs in Bolangir postal division were fake.
Subsequently, a special team raided the premises of Reliance Education Complex and seized around 5,000 fake certificates of 41 schools, colleges, and universities in the country. Mastermind Manoj Mishra, the proprietor of a local coaching centre Reliance Education Complex, and his partner Alok Ranjan Udgata were arrested during the raid.
