Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC have signed a new contract with forward Diego Mauricio which will keep the Brazilian in the club till 2025. In the last season of the ISL, Diego Mauricio played a pivotal role in the success of Odisha FC scoring 12 goals and providing four assists. He was the winner of the ISL ‘Golden Boot’. Since the 2020-21 season Mauricio has been with the club and has made himself an integral part of the squad.
The 31-year-old Mauricio has been a favourite at the club, and his performances have earned him praise from fans and experts alike. The contract extension is a significant boost for Odisha FC. The team finished sixth and qualified for their first-ever Hero ISL playoffs.
Mauricio expressed happiness after the extension of his contract. “I belong to Odisha. I love the people and the city. The fans have shown me how much they love me. My family is very happy that I decided to stay. I have had a great time here, and I am looking forward to continuing my journey with the club. I believe we can achieve great things together,” Mauricio said in a release by Odisha FC.
