Bhubaneswar: Heatwave conditions continue to grip the entire Odisha with the day temperature hovering over 40 degree Celsius in as many as 25 places in the state Friday.
Baripada in northern Odisha was the hottest place in the state recording a maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda at 42.8, Talcher at 42.6, Boudh and Titilagarh at 42.5 degree Celsius each.
The maximum day temperature touched 42.2 degree Celsius in Sambalpur while Angul and Sonepur recorded 42.1 degree Celsius each, followed by Sundergarh 42, Rourkela 41.8, Bhawanipatna 41.5, Cuttack, Keonjhar 41.2 each, Hirakud and Bhubaneswar reported 40.6 degree Celsius
The IMD predicted that there would be no respite from the heat wave in the next couple of days as the maximum day temperature is likely to be more than 40 degree Celsius above normal by 3 to 5 degree Celsius due to prevailing northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation.
