Sundargarh: In a remarkable celebration of Odisha’s foundation day, the Odisha Social and Cultural Association (OSCA) in Calgary, Canada, hosted an event filled with cultural programs and festivities, April 8 evening. The event started with a welcome speech by OSCA president Jyostna Rani Debi, followed by a prayer to Lord Jagannath with the lighting of an oil lamp. Dillip Das Mohapatra from Edmonton joined as the chief guest, while Surya Acharya from Lethbridge participated as the chief speaker of the evening in the presence of OSCA’s treasurer Debabrata Rout. The trio enlightened the audiences about the essence of Utkal Divas and how Odisha got united with the merger of divided areas.
During the event, Das Mohapatra also revealed the second edition of OSCA’s yearly magazine, ‘Karabarna’. The child artists from the OSCA family stole the show by participating in song, dance, and debate competitions. The comedy-drama ‘Girlfriend’s Marriage,’ represented by actors Bhagvat, Sumitra, Gouri, Aiswarya, and Ruby, also enthralled the audiences. After the cultural programme, OSCA’s general secretary Subhadarshini Das and the chief guest awarded the child artists. In the end, OSCA’s vice president Bhushan Guddu felicitated everybody for the successful observance of the event.
