Puri: A school teacher was caught red-handed while selling textbooks meant for school students as scrap in Odisha’s Puri district, a source said Friday.
The teacher was identified as Basudev Swain from Matha Kankuda Government Upper Primary School under Kapileswarpur Gram Panchayat in Puri district.
When asked about the incident Sahu said that he was going to utilise the money made from selling the books in school developmental work such as repairing the malfunctioning water pump set present in the school.
Assistant Education Officer Mamata Mishra said appropriate action will be taken against the accused following a detailed probe.
It can be mentioned here that a Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) was suspended Tuesday on allegations of selling textbooks meant for school students to a scrap dealer in Odisha’s Khurda district.
The Khurda district administration had sealed the CRCC’s office and put him under suspension.
