Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Tuesday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.
Upto 8.30 AM of May 3: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts, the IMD bulletin stated.
In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south Odisha and at one or two paces over the districts of north Odisha.
From 8.30 AM of May 3 to 8.30 AM of May 4: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning, and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Gajapati, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts.
Besides that, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places in the state.
The weather agency forecasted no change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next four to five days and a slight increase thereafter.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunder or lightning is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 37 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 32.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Jajpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 17.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani, the bulletin informed.
