Kharagpur/Puri: Some coaches of Howrah-Puri Superfast Express en route to Puri disengaged leaving the passengers a scared lot. However, no passengers were injured in the mishap, a source in the Railways said Sunday.
The incident took place late Saturday night near Nekurseni area in West Bengal.
An alleged ‘snag’ in coupling could be the reason behind the incident, a railway official said.
Following the mishap, Railways officials and engineers of Kharagpur division reached the spot. They repaired and coupled the separated coaches after which the train left the place at around 6.30 am Sunday.
In a separate and unrelated incident in 2020, Bhubaneswar-bound Odisha Sampark Kranti Express split into two twice on its journey leaving passengers in a horrified state.
