Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Saturday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.
Upto 8:30 AM of May 28: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Khurda districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput districts.
In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.
From 8:30 AM of May 28 to 8:30 AM of May 29: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Angul districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.
Temperature forecast: The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day) in the state and it is likely to be around 42 degree Celsius at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha over next five days.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 38 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 42.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 20.6 degree Celsius was recorded at Angul, the bulletin informed.
