Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Monday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.
Upto 8.30 AM of June 6: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts, the IMD bulletin stated.
Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal and Nabarangpur.
In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.
From 8.30 AM of June 6 to 8.30 AM of June 7: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, Angul and Kandhamal districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.
The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) across the state and it is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at one or two places in the districts of interior Odisha over the next three to five days.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 39 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 19 degree Celsius was recorded at Nayagarh and Angul, the bulletin informed.
