Bhubaneswar: A massive fire broke out in a commercial complex in Jharapada area of Bhubaneswar Sunday in which several shops including Pure EV showroom and service centre were reduced to ashes.
While there has been no casualties as people managed to run out of the building in time, a local businessman who runs a shop nearby estimated material losses to be in lakhs. The fire mishap took place in a three-storeyed-building where as many as six businesses run their shops.
The actual reason behind this fire mishap is yet to be ascertained. However, locals and firemen suspect that it could have started from the Pure electric vehicle showroom operating in the building.
“Fire has almost been doused. After some time it will be fully under control. We suspect that fire could have broken out either from the batteries stored in the shop or as a result of a short circuit,” a fire services personnel deployed on the spot said.
A local shopkeeper said, “I am suspecting that the fire breakout from the EV showroom. From there the fire may have spread out to other shops.”
It can be mentioned here that fire engulfed building has shops like a Pure EV showroom, a machinery shop, a trading shop, a dental clinic, a gym and a fashion house.
