Sambalpur: The Sambalpur police arrested five dacoits and recovered major looted properties from the possession of the accused burglars in connection with a robbery incident reported last month in the district.
A robbery incident had taken place May 28 in Dengsargi area under Bareipali police limits from the house of Pradeep Kumar Rana, in which the dacoits had looted 42 grams of gold, two laptops, an LED TV and other valuables items besides cash.
Sambalpur SDPO Pradeep Kumar Sahu said police arrested five dacoits from Bargarh town and one more person from Sambalpur district.
The police also recovered melted gold of 40.10 gram and cash worth Rs 21,000 from their possession.
The SDPO informed that they arrested an accused identified as Pankaj Sathua for receiving the stolen gold ornaments and melting them.
The Police also seized two cars, swords, and other heavy instruments used in the crime.
