Puri: In a major security lapse, a man took his mobile phone inside Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri and recorded a video of the holy shrine, a source said Monday.
The person was identified as Rohit Jaiswal from Varanasi. He further went on to post the video on his social media profile after visiting the 12th-century shrine amid the ongoing Rath Yatra festival of the deities, the source informed.
However, it was yet to be ascertained how Jaiswal managed to carry the device with him inside the temple premises as mobile phones are prohibited there.
The concerned authorities of the temple administration did not issue any comment regarding the matter at the time of filing this report.
According to the source, there is not much rush inside Srimandir due to the ongoing nine-day sojourn of Lord Jagannath and his siblings — Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra — to Gundicha temple.
Notably, this is not the first time that such an incident of security breach has been reported.
In November 2022, a Youtuber from Bangladesh Akash Choudhury posted photographs of Srimandir’s sanctum sanctorum on his Facebook account.
In a similar yet unrelated incident, a person namely Sanjaya Padhi from Bhadrak district clicked selfies inside the temple premises and shared them on his Facebook account in June 2022.
