Angul: Vigilance sleuths Wednesday caught ASI (Assistant sub-inspector of police) Naveen Kumar Satpathy from Kiakata Police Station in Odisha’s Angul district while he was taking bribe, a source said.
According to the source, Satpathy had previously taken Rs 2,000 from Panchanana Meher – a businessman from Beladula village in Kandhapada panchayat – to settle a business-related dispute.
The source added that the cop had demanded an additional Rs 15,000 from Panchanana to dispose off the matter.
Based on an intelligence input, the Vigilance officials caught Satpathy red-handed Wednesday while the cop was taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 from Panchanana.
At the time of filing this report, the Vigilance sleuths were questioning Satpathry at Katikia Police Station.
