Rourkela: Lambasting the BJP government at the Centre over Manipur violence, former Biramitrapur MLA George Tirkey recently tried to re-launch his outfit ‘George Sena’.
Demonstrating against Manipur violence and two women being paraded naked by a mob, the video of which had gone viral, George with a crowd of over 300 supporters attempted to show his strength at Bisra Chowk, the busiest thoroughfare of the Steel City.
George, once a powerful leader of the tribals in the district and a former employee of State Bank of India, had a big say in Sundargarh politics.
Speaking to OrissaPOST, George said, “We are protesting against the atrocities against the tribals in Manipur. And we will continue to protest against the BJP-led NDA at all places and will expose their nefarious tactics.”
Asked about his political future, he said, “I am ready to join BJD but so far I have not received any communication from the party side. I am waiting for that.”
When asked about George Sena, the banner under which he was once elected as an MLA, George said, “It is my old banner and I was elected under this. And for the last three to four months I have been doing all my activities under this banner. If I join BJD, George Sena would merge with the party,” he made it clear.
Regarding his future course of action, if he is not invited into BJD, he said, “I will contest from Biramitrapur Assembly segment.”
