Balasore: The Balasore district administration’s bid to shift all judicial courts functioning in Balasore town to Remuna about 12 km from this district headquarters town has sparked sharp resentment and anger among the denizens, a report said Sunday.
The matter came to the fore at a meeting of the Balasore Civil Society group held at the Utha Jalasechan Karmachari Bhawan here, Sunday.
The society members termed the move as an inconsequential and imprudent decision of the district administration and strongly opposed the move at a meeting presided over by its president Antaryami Pradhan.
Reports said that Remuna tehsildar had issued a notice August 21 inviting objections and complaints on the issue. The Remuna tehsil officials have launched process to identify land for establishment of the courts at Bidyadharpur mouza under ward no-7 of Notified Area Council (NAC) in Remuna.
They said that shifting of the courts to Remuna is not prudent when there is road and rail transport facilities to the district headquarters town. They said that they will involve other social outfits and oppose the move.
The speakers said that they will submit a memorandum in this regard to the Chief Minister, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, District and Sessions Judge, and the district administration next week. They will also conduct a signature campaign in next month and submit memorandum to the state government and judiciary comprising the signatures of 1 lakh residents.
