Baripada: The Similipal National Park located in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district was reopened for visitors Saturday.
This year, the national park has opened earlier than the usual date of November 1, a forest official said.
Earlier, a notification was issued by the Wildlife Conservator of the Similipal Tiger Reserve Prakash Chand Gogineni. The notification read that the National Park will reopen from Mahalaya, October 14 after remaining closed for around five months in view of the monsoon season.

As per the notification, tourists can enter the park between 6am and 9am. A maximum of 35 four-wheelers will be allowed entry through the Kaliani gate on the Jashipur side while 25 vehicles will be allowed through the Pithabatata gate on the Baripada side per day.
Visitors can book tickets at the counter for entry of vehicles from 6am to 9am. They can leave the premises from Barehipani and Jaranda by 3pm and Chahala by 4pm, it said.
Visitors are prohibited from taking plastic bottles, intoxicants, non-vegetarian food items, and inflammatory products along with them while visiting the park.
