Udala: In a shocking incident, a man killed his five-month pregnant daughter by mercilessly kicking her abdomen and thrashing her with a wooden plank at Patharakhani village under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj district Saturday. The deceased was identified as Sakara Tudu and her accused father was Jithu Tudu of this village.
As per reports, the accused had married his daughter some years ago. However, Sakara along with her three-year-old daughter returned to her native place after the death of her husband around a year ago, villagers said.
However, she was reportedly found five months pregnant Friday. When Jithu questioned him on the matter to his daughter, a heated argument broke out between them. In a fit of anger, suspecting his daughter’s character, the accused kicked her abdomen and hit the victim with a wooden plank several times. The victim sustained grievous injuries in the incident. Saturday morning, when Jithu came to know that Sakara died, he tried to suppress the matter.
However, police got information from a reliable source and reached the spot along with the scientific team Sunday morning. Police seized the body and arrested Jithu on a charge of murder. During the investigation, police found signs of assault on the deceased’s body.
Police registered a case (No231/23) and handed over the body to her family members after conducting the post-mortem. The news has become the talk of the town as it has sent shock waves in the area.
