Birmaharajpur: Miscreants allegedly stole two ‘hundis’ (donation boxes) by breaking the lock of the main gate of Jagannath temple located at Birmaharajpur in Subarnapur district, a source said Tuesday.
According to the source, the temple’s priest Bishwamitra Chand went back to his home after locking the temple Monday night. However, when Chand returned to open the temple Tuesday morning, he found the lock of the main entrance of the shrine ‘Singhadwara’ (Lions’ Gate) was broken.
Afterwards, he went inside the temple and discovered that the two hundis were missing. Subsequently, he informed the matter to temple committee members, the source added.
Later, the president of the temple committee Bishnu Charan Panda and secretary Shambhu Prasad Hota lodged an FIR at Birmaharajpur Police Station.
