Keonjhar: As many as 100 tribal boys and girls participated in the Kendujhar Adi Mahotsav marathon that concluded Monday here. The two-day programme was organised by the Special Development Council (SDC), Keonjhar to promote tribal art and culture.
A marathon was organised for tribal boys and girls on the concluding day which started from the district collectorate to Baladevjew temple. Sanjay Hansda, Kshirod Chandra Hansda, and Vir Singh Majhi won the first, second, and third positions respectively in the men’s marathon and in the women’s category, Manju Munda, Sukhi Baske, and Lily Majhi bagged the first, second, and third positions respectively.
Cash prize worth Rs 50,000 was awarded to the winner, Rs 30,000 to the runner-up, and Rs 20,000 to the second runner-up. Patana MLA Jagannath Nayak, chairman of SDC, Keonjhar Lakshmi Naik, and vice chairman of SDC Narayan Poorti attended the programme as guests. Later, a friendly football match was played at the Dharinidar Sports Complex.
