Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday announced a hike in remuneration and allowance of panchayat representatives in the state.
As per a release from the Chief Minister’s Office(CMO), the Zilla Parishad president will get Rs30,000 per month as against Rs9,380 while the Zilla Parishad vice president will get Rs20,000 instead of Rs7,040 while the Zilla Parishad members will get Rs10,000 instead of Rs3,530.
The state government also hiked the daily allowance and sitting fee of Zilla Parishad president, vice president and members from Rs300 to Rs600.
Similarly, the Panchayat Samiti chairman and vice chairman will get monthly remuneration of Rs15,000 and Rs7,500 respectively, as per the decision of the government.
The saranches who were getting Rs2,350 as monthly remuneration will now receive Rs10,000 and the Naib sarpanch will get a hiked monthly remuneration of Rs4,000 instead of Rs940.
Panchayat Samiti chairman, vice chairman, Panchayat Samiti members, sarpanch and naib sarpanch will get the daily allowance and sitting fee of Rs480 instead of Rs240.
The state government also decided to provide Rs2 lakh as ex-gratia in case of the death of the panchayat representative while on duty.
Similarly in case of any accidental mishap of complete disability (Irrecoverable loss of both eyes, hands and feet) an exgratia of Rs2 lakh will be provided while in case of partial disability (Irrecoverable loss of one eye, one hand or one leg) the ex gratia of Rs1 lakh will be provided to the panchayat representatives.
The state government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs162.68 crore for this purpose, the official release read.
