Chhatrapur: Police arrested Sunday two more persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of a BJP worker at Srikrushna Saranpur village under Khallikote police limits in Ganjam district. With the new arrests, the total number of persons so far held in the case has gone up to 11, Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena said at a press meet here Sunday.
Deceased Dillip Pahan, a BJP worker was putting up some banners and posters when he was attacked by a group of people leading to his death May 15. The two arrested persons have been identified as Sudarshan Pahan and and Papu Tarei of Srikrushna Saranpur village. Meanwhile, a special investigation team (SIT) has launched a probe into the murder. “All those involved in the murder will be arrested soon,” the SP said. The incident occurred when some BJP workers were sticking posters of party’s Khallikote Assembly nominee Purna Chandra Sethy at Srikrushna Saranpur village. The BJD workers opposed the move which led to a clash between the two sides. Knives and choppers were used during the brawl which left six injured. Dillip, who was one of the injured, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
