Berhampur: A 42-year-old man was found dead on the railway tracks near Berhampur railway station in Ganjam district Friday morning, police said. The deceased was identified as Ramachandra Sahu, son of Jaya Sahu, a resident of Bijipur Kalua Sahi under Town police limits here.
As per reports, Ramachandra had gone to Puri for some work and while returning he took a halt at Khurda Thursday night. He called his wife around 10 pm there and informed her about his return.
However, when he did not reach home till late, family members tried to contact him but found his mobile switched off. The family members then got suspicious and launched a frantic search but could not trace Ramachandra.
Meanwhile, the Government Railway Police (GRP) here came to know that a body was found lying on the tracks near Platform No. 2 of Berhampur railway station Friday morning and rushed to the spot. Incidentally, Ramachandra’s brother-in-law Sanatan, who was searching for him, reached the spot and identified the body in police presence. However, Ramachandra’s mobile phone and other belongings were found missing at the spot, said the police.
