Bhubaneswar: The Central University of Odisha (CUO) in Koraput bagged the first prize in ‘Providing Excellent Higher Education’ category at ‘Government Achievements and Schemes Expo (GASE)- 2024’, organised by NNS Media Group at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, Sunday. The CUO delegation included the Department of Statistics associate professor and head, Gurjeet Singh Walia, the department of Mathematics assistant professor Jyotiska Datta, the department of Education assistant professor Ravita Pathak and the Department of Sociology assistant professor Elisa Mohanty.
The team engaged with ministers, representatives from educational institutions including IITs and Central universities, media personnel, students, and the general public. At the event, CUO Vice Chancellor Chakradhar Tripathi highlighted the university’s research efforts as well as enterprise to promote Indian Knowledge Systems through various initiatives like Paramparik Kreeda Mahotsava and an international seminar on 19th-century saint Bhima Bhoi.
At the expo, the ‘Sakhsarata Abhiyan’ conducted by CUO at different villages in Koraput was considered a major milestone.
Additionally, the financial support scheme for hostel boarders, which offers fee waivers to students from lower socio-economic backgrounds, was well-received at the event. Tripathi appreciated and congratulated the delegation, university community and stakeholders for their outstanding contributions towards this achievement.
