Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: Orissa sub-junior boys clinched the overall champions title in the recently concluded National Sub-Junior Weightlifting Championship at Jamnagar of Haryana, Wednesday. Orissa garnered a total of 490 points to take the top honours. Maharashtra finished runners-up with a score of 420 points.
Emerging women lifter of the State Pramila Kirsani bagged gold medal in the 53kg category. She lifted a total of 170 kg including 71kg in snatch and 99kg in clean and jerk. Arun Santa grabbed bronze medal in the 56kg men’s category. He lifted a total of 219kg including 96kg in snatch and 123kg in clean and jerk to finish third. In the sub-junior boys’ 50kg catagory, Jagadish Nayak won a silver medal. He secured the second position by lifting a total of 177 kg, including 79 kg in snatch and 98 kg in clean and jerk.
