Sambalpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Friday unveiled a bountiful of projects in the city and its outskirts. He began by inaugurating the APJ Abdul Kalam Planetarium and the adjoining science park at Burla.
Then he rushed to VIMSAR campus and inaugurated a students’ hostel, a lecture hall, an exam hall, sishu bhawan (childcare centre) and Ahaar Kendra before laying the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art auditorium.
He attended a public gathering at VSSUT auditorium where he laid the foundation stone for a regional centre, sensory park for differently-abled persons and a market complex.
During a hectic two-hour programme, Patnaik declared a hoard of public beneficiary programmes like Swabalamban health insurance scheme and work orders for PMAY and BPGY, among others.
He distributed assistive devices to persons with deficiencies. The CM dedicated the new light fittings on the approach road to Burla from NH-55.
On his way to Kachery Chowk, the CM stayed at Daleipara on Ring Road to greet his party workers. He was given a warm welcome made colourful by the display of fireworks. Patnaik was greeted at a finely decorated meeting in front of SBI main branch where he flagged off 12 new city buses.
The CM unveiled a hoard of plaques to declare multiple programmes like laying of foundation stones for a new RTO office, new circuit house, NAC eco-park and foundation stone for new bus stand at Kuchinda. He dedicated the Durgapali bridge, Dhobijore bridge and the new blood bank building to the people.
He inaugurated the newly built swimming complex at Sambalpur and laid the foundation stone for the proposed kids’ swimming pool and a diving pool in the complex.
All three MLAs from Sambalpur district Dr Raseswari Panigrahi, Rohit Pujhary and Ramesh Patua and top administrative officials and BJD leaders were present at the CM’s meet.
Sambalpur MLA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi said the CM has agreed to the request for a barrage at under-construction Mahanadi Bridge. The site was shown to him while he was coming on the Ring Road. The enhanced water storage at the barrage will address the water woes for farmers at Sambalpur, she expected.
Panigrahi informed that the CM had agreed in principle to an open zoo at Laxmidungri as the site was shown to him on his way to Sambalpur from Burla. PNN
