Being a vast country, India do has diverse religious norms. The tradition of paying respect at religious places is generally by lighting incense sticks and by offering flowers and sweets. However, there is a Muslim religious site (Mazar) in Lucknow where people offer cigarettes to get their wishes fulfilled.
The mausoleum (mazar) has the grave of a Christian soldier named Captain Wells who died during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. Since his tomb is at the place, it is called the mazar of captain Baba. Here people of both Hindu and Muslim religion come and burn cigarettes as Wells loved to smoke and drink.
The mazar is frequented by bachelors and spinsters who come here to offer cigarettes with the hope that they will get a proper life partner. The myth is that with the wishes of Captain Baba, love always flourishes. So lovers and unmarried couple hit this mazar in thousands to get there life partner.
