Aahar feeds tourists

Berhampur/Gopalpur: Aahar centres providing subsidised food to the public came in handy for tourists at the Gopalpur beach after cyclonic storm Titli hit land early Thursday.

Notwithstanding inclement weather, tourists were seen visiting the beach to watch the high tidal waves. Soon they ran from pillar to post in search of food. But nowhere did they find it. They heaved a sigh of relief after finding the Aahar centres open.

Many tourists were found queuing up at Aahar centres to get food as noon meals reached late. The rules say that noon meals comprising rice and dalma would be supplied from 11 am to 3 pm, but the food prepared by Manna Foundation reached the centres at 1.30 pm, and that too only for 300 people.

The stock soon got exhausted, and many tourists who had gathered on the beach were seen going back disappointed.
