The name, Aamir Khan is buzzing the eventual hum in the entertainment circuit. Well, it is that time of the year when an Aamir khan film is brewing. The actor, the perfectionist and the ‘one-film-a-year’ star is working on the remake of ‘Forrest Gump’.
His eating habits and the workout schedules have already started making their promotional rounds and hopefully soon, we will see him say, “S#iT Happens”. Here however, we are shifting focus from the usual rumblings of ‘Aamir Khan and Forrest Gump’ to ‘Aamir Khan and BOXING.’
Did you know Amir Khan is one of the finest boxers in the world arena? Under his belt he has 33 out of 37 fight wins which include 20 Knockout wins. You don’t believe?
Well don’t you think Aamir Khan could box when he is off films? After all he only does one film a year, so he could definitely make time for the ring, isn’t that right?
‘Amir Khan’, the British boxer says he is often mistaken for the Bollywood superstar ‘Aamir Khan’, “it happens all the time.” The former unified light-welterweight world champion says; “So many people confuse me with Aamir Khan. In UK, even on the phone people mistake me for him. And on Twitter, Facebook, people send me messages thinking this is Aamir Khan ‘the actor’s’ account.”
The difference in their names is only of the letter ‘a’, hence the confusion which even you feel, I bet.
Amir thinks it would be interesting if Aamir stars in his biopic. “In Hollywood, someone who is young and really athletic should play my part. It’s hard to say who can do that. I don’t mind doing it myself. But in Bollywood, Aamir Khan would be ideal. It’ll be amazing if Aamir Khan makes a movie about Amir Khan, the boxer,” said the 32-year-old who began competitive boxing at age 11, and has won 33 out of 37 fights till date which include 20 KO wins.
Amir Iqbal Khan has two sisters and a brother named Haroon “Harry” Khan, who is also an undefeated professional boxer. He is the first cousin of English cricketer Sajid Mahmood, related through a paternal grandfather, Lal Khan Janjua, who moved to England after being discharged from the Pakistan Army which very much sums up Amir being a citizen of the UK.
On one side Aamir cannot afford a bruised face and on the other, bruised face is Amir’s trademark and these marks are his biggest concern as a parent. He does not want his daughter, Lamaisah to know that he fights and says he will keep it a secret as long as he can.
Since it is the season of biopics and Amir wished for it, we do hope that Aamir Khan does meet Amir Khan on screen someday and the world gets to see, ‘faces of the same coin’ or ‘faces of the same name’ or the name that the Khans’ agree upon.
