Buguda:
Police Monday rescued the ITI student who was abducted by nidentified miscreants from Buguda in Ganjam district for a ransom of Rs 3 lakh June 19.
The victim identified as Kishore Kumar Patnaik (17), son of Kanha Charan Patnaik of Buguda Irrigation Colony was rescued from Balipadar. A police team rescued him from a private ‘Raghunath’ bus and handed over to his family members.
According to reports, Kishore had gone to play cricket and went missing since June 19. On the following day, his family members received a call from an unknown number demanding Rs 3 lakh for his release.
The family received another call in the evening from another unknown number warning them of dire consequences if they revealed anything regarding the matter to the police.
Now, the family members are worried about the safety of the boy as they haven’t received a call for the last five days.
Police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by Kanha and have started tracking the ‘unknown’ mobile numbers.
“The abductors called me and demanded Rs 3 lakh. I also talked to my son who said that he was drugged and kept inside a house,” Kanha told the police.
When contacted, the police said that a probe was on and the abductors would be arrested soon.
