Rourkela: Four days after being abducted by miscreants for a ransom of Rs 1 crore, young businessman Pradeep Kundu has been rescued, said police Thursday.
Informing about the development, Sundargarh SP Sagarika Nath said Pradeep, the owner of a crusher unit, was rescued November 11 evening.
The miscreants had abducted Kundu from a place near Bijabahal locality under Biramitrapur police limits November 7 evening when he was going to his work place from home.
Kundu had left home at about 7pm after getting a call from a staff member. The person had apparently requested for an advance against his salary.
However, when he did not return even late into the night, his family members launched a frantic search for him. They had even contacted all the relatives and Kundu’s friends to trace him.
However, their efforts proved futile. So early Sunday morning they had lodged a police complaint at the Biramitrapur police station.
Acting on the complaint, a team of Biramitrapur police launched a search. They found Kundu’s car parked on NH-143. When police opened the doors of the car they found a syringe, Kundu’s phone and the ransom letter demanding Rs 1 crore.
