Cuttack: Terror suspect Abdur Rehman was produced before the district and sessions court here Wednesday. In deference to earlier directions, Jagatpur inspector-in-charge (IIC) Ranjit Kumar Prusty also deposed before the lower court and recorded his statement.
During the proceedings, Prusty informed the court that Rehman was arrested by a joint team of Special Cell of Delhi police and Commissionerate Police from his residence at Paschimakaccha village in Cuttack December 16, 2015. The team had seized some CDs from his residence.
Later, a raid was conducted at a madrasa in Bilteruan near Tangi in Cuttack, which was run by Rehman and many incriminating documents were also seized from the scene. Following this, a case was filed against Rehman for his terror activities, IIC Prusty stated before the court.
According to the case details, earlier a witness Salim Khan has also recorded his statement in the court.
Earlier, the lower court September 13 last year had framed charges against Rehman under Section 124 (a) of IPC and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. The Crime Branch has filed the charges against Rehman.
