Abhishek’s stand-up leaves folks in splits

BHUBANESWAR: A rib-tickling stand-up show by Abhishek Upmanyu entertained denizens of the city at Hotel New Marrion here Sunday.

After the success of Las Viegas Comedy Club’s inaugural stand-up event, with Zakir Khan in Bhubaneswar last year, the audience has been quite receptive to comedy as a form of entertainment. Not only was the auditorium sold out but fans were constantly enquiring about the next comedian visiting the city.

Although stand-up comedy is not a mainstream art form in many parts of the country, big metropolitan cities, along with a few smaller ones have an appreciation for it. LVC started two years ago with much deeper roots in Indian standup. During this time, LVC managed to sell 200,000 tickets through multiple shows across fifteen Indian cities.

The shows featured artists like Zakir Khan, Abhishek Upmanyu, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kenny Sebastian, Kenan Gil and many others. Bhubaneswar welcomed LVC Comedy to their city again, months after the Zakir Khan event, with the announcement of ‘Abhishek Upmanyu’s performance.

Dealing with people on the ground was not too difficult since everyone was looking for an opportunity to help. When speaking about the influence that LVC had on the comedy scene in the Bhubaneswar, Warren Viegas, founder of Las Viegas Comedy Club, said, “Bhubaneswar is a terrific city with a very comedy savvy audience. LVC is proud to be a part of its comedy scene, and two sold-out shows with Zakir and Abhishek Upmanyu is more than we could have asked for.”

Follow Las Viegas Comedy Club on social media to stay updated on our schedule for the upcoming months. With, as welcoming a response, as we received, we are definitely heading back to Bhubaneshwar for another show shortly.
