Rourkela: A person died and three others were seriously injured Friday morning in a head-on collision between a scooter and a bike near Khuntgaon under Mahulpada police limits in Sundargarh district. The three injured have been admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) in critical condition, sources said.
The mishap occurred when three friends — Kartik Nayak, Chandan Nayak and Mana Dehury — had gone to purchase chicken for Raja celebration on a bike. While returning they picked up another friend Sambaru Nayak. Meanwhile, two persons identified as Paresh Munda and Jethu Thakur were coming from the opposite side on a scooter. Both the vehicles had a headon collision near Mukulapani village. Mana Dehury died on the spot and the scooter was badly damaged in the impact of the collision. Locals rescued them and rushed them to the local PHC. However, when the condition of three injured deteriorated, they were shifted to RGH where their condition was stated to be critical.
Apart from this, three valuable lives have been lost to three separate accidents in the last eight days in the district. More than six persons were seriously injured in those mishaps. If one looks at last six months records, including Friday’s incident, as many as 19 persons have lost their lives and over 30 have been left with severe injuries.
